CHARMLAND is a documentary in development about an abandoned resort in the hills above Beirut and the caretaker who keeps it alive. A place of optimism and opportunity in the mid-90s turned into a scene of bitter division and abandonment in the 2000s. Charmland is now home to Carl and the 8 stray dogs he has taken in, as well as a makeshift skatepark - one of the only in Lebanon.
The film explores dreams and utopias that are constructed through memory (with the use of archival footage) and the fragility of the link that exists between the personal (Carl's life, the Charmland owner’s life) and the collective (Charmland and Lebanon).
